Car rentals are available in Santiago and at the international airport, by companies such as Alamo, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, and Econorent. It is important to know however that a car is not necessary when staying at Valle Nevado, as everything is located in a compact area that is walkable.
If you have a car and do plan to arrive in a vehicle, note that drivers must carry chains whether road conditions call for it or not. Police at a mid-mountain checkpoint will verify that you are carrying chains before proceeding. Chains can be reserved when booking your car rental, or they can be rented at the chain depot that will appear on the right-hand side of the road before reaching the police checkpoint.
From Santiago, go east on the Costanera Norte and get off at the La Dehesa Sur exit. Continue and turn left at the traffic light on Av. Las Condes and continue straight, keeping right at the fork in the road (at the gas station) on the Camino a Farallones. Continue until Curva 40 where you will see the detour to Valle Nevado; from that point it takes 15 minutes to reach our the resort.
